It would be great to have a simple cloth bag to protect the Iliad when in the flight bag. The eRex web site links to some alternatives, but it would make a great accessory oriented towards flight bag use.

thepouch.com makes a simple neoprene bag sized for the iLiad. I made a simple one for myself from heavy weight nylon and felt. These types of carrying cases will be coming more and more. I'm sure that iRex will offer them as accessories.

What we need for the eFLYBook is a base that connects to a leg strap or a yoke mount. It's a pretty big unit to have hanging on the yoke. Certainly, a kneeboard solution would be my priority.

There was a vendor across the aisle at Oshkosh offering a kneeboard/strap that was compatible with the eFLYBook. The eFLYBook attaches to the nylon plate with velcro. The only issue was that I see is there was no flap/cover for the display when you store the eFLYBook in your flight bag.

Velcro is velcro 'cause it comes apart. laugh.gif A bit of a hassle, but remove the eFB (I'm tired of typing the whole name) from the kneeboard and stuff it in a neoprene pouch when not in use.

I like my existing kneeboard. It is one of those tri-fold deals. When open, you have a metal clipboard in the center and two flaps with pockets out to each side. I like it because you can wrap a pretty good stack of charts in it and velcro it closed with the leg straps. Pretty convenient to carry into the FBO or throw in my flight bag.

I could picture something similar for the eFB. Either just one padded flap or maybe two flaps with one of them padded to protect the display. Close the padded flap. Pile on a few charts. Close the other flap and secure the whole thing shut with the leg straps.

Either the eFB gets velcroed in or maybe just elastic straps at the corners.

I've seen the kneeboard/strap at ARINC and it works fine but like others, I already have a tri fold and am experimenting with two locations: one attached to the left page of my trifold with velcro, which puts the Iliad on my lap, and the other, attached to a yoke plate (I'm using the one that comes with the Garmin 396). But as others mentioned, Iliad is pretty big to hang off the yoke and when centered, blocks the panel. A custom yoke clip would be needed that positions the Iliad similar to where most of us clip paper charts. The Garmin yoke clip is only marginally useful but allows me to test that position. Velcro works well if you use enough of it to cover the full surfaces available.

buymedge sells cases but I didn't see anything there that would lend itself to kneeboard or yoke mounting. Chris, is there something else there that I didn't see?

Bought the book style case from buymedge. In general, I like it a lot. Very professional looking around the office and I think it could be good in the cockpit too. I wrote more comments in the thread about protecting the screen in the Hardware group. I won't repeat it here.
