Now iRex has released version 2.10 and we don't have 2.9.5 yet. What's up guys, it has been released for well over a month?

Roy,
The 2.9.5 update for that matter the 2.1.0 update is a bit of a "question" right now as it has the ability to break some of the units that it updates. When I mean break I mean "brick" which means we will need to for now send those units back to iRex to have them fixed.

It is supose to be very few but I am not to excited about the prospect, we have been battling long delays in the return of units from there maintenance facility and have been working hard with iRex to make it smoother and faster that said its still taking to long.

We are currently trying to see if we could help them locally with the "un-bricking" but that is still an open discussion.

As a side note the fixes applied in 2.10 will go miles toward resolving a long standing memory issue within the device that has been holding us back from delivering any further features and or updates. So its critical for us to get the update out the way but we want to make sure it doesn not disrupt our users more than it has too.

That is all I have on the matter right now, it is as you can imagine a little more complex that we had hoped for, Will keep you all posted.

Thanks for the update. I understand the issues, it is really hard when we don't hear anything from you.

Any new updates? What percentage are being bricked by 2.9.5? Can you skip 2.9.5 and go straight to 2.10? How much longer til we know something?

You can't skip 2.9.5. As long as you have the unit plugged in, let the battery charge before you start updating and be patient while it goes through the multiple downloads and reboots, you'll be fine.

Did the upgrade last night. Made sure that the battery was charged before I ever started. Copied all of my files off to the PC. After an initial goof on my part, the update went smoothly and quicker than I was expecting.

The goof on my part was because I had been using the companion software to move files back and forth with my PC. I had the "Connect" configuration set to connect with my PC rather than IDS. Once I realized that (Thanks Chris), no problems.

I already had bought several books and downloaded some news articles from CNN and BBC in anticipation of this release (months ago!). Spent the evening reading them on my eFB! Excellent. My daily commute just gets better and better. The only problem is that my company is moving and the new commute will be 1/2 hour shorter leaving me with prescious time to relax, read, and take notes.

Ah, there's always the airplane!

Did the update, only minor problem was it made me wait for the battery to fully charge even though it was plugged in to AC at the time. Update process worked correctly. Copied old files to EFB, then hooked up to computer and it synchronized the mobipocket books over. Everything worked great. Happy with everything. Like Travis I love it even more now.
